Alexandria Commission for the Arts Schedules Grant Workshops
Workshops Highlight New Online Grant Application Process
The Alexandria Commission for the Arts is pleased to announce a new online grant application process for all Fiscal Year 2009-2010 applications. The Commission will conduct two grant workshops on Tuesday, September 23, and Wednesday, October 15 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dr. Oswald D. Durant Center, 1605 Cameron St. The workshops will provide information about the Commission’s programs; highlight specific information about its annual grant program, which provides funding for various arts programs; and describe the new online grant application process. All interested applicants, and new and past grant recipients, are strongly encouraged to attend either grant workshop.
The goals of the Commission’s grant program include encouraging artistic excellence in the City; assisting Alexandria-based arts organizations in improving their financial, administrative, and management capabilities; and providing individual artists with opportunities to create, perform, and present their works. Approximately $200,000 in funding is available to assist local artists and arts’ organizations.
An online Guide to Funding for Fiscal Year 2009-2010 and application forms for all grant programs are available at www.alexandriacommissionforthearts.org and alexandriava.gov/recreation . Completed online grant applications must be submitted by midnight Friday, November 14, 2008. In addition to an online grant application submission, one hard copy of the application must be delivered to the Dr. Oswald Durant Memorial Center, 1605 Cameron Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. All hard copies of grant applications must be received no later than 8 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2008.
