City of Alexandria to Hold Annual Scottish Heritage Fair on Sunday, October 5

The City of Alexandria will celebrate its Scottish heritage at the Annual Scottish Heritage Fair on Sunday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fort Ward Park, 4301 West Braddock Rd. Admission is free and the fair will be held rain or shine.

Entertainment features Carl Peterson (Scottish folk singer), the Northern Virginia Branch, Royal Scottish Dance Society, Scottish Pipes and Drums, Highland Dancing, Scottish Weaponry Demonstrations, and Gaelic singing. Exhibitors include Genealogists, Clans by the score, traditional Scottish arts and crafts, souvenirs and an exhibition on Scottish achievement and innovation. Traditional Scottish food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities is cosponsoring the festival with the Alexandria Scottish Heritage Educational Foundation, a local nonprofit organization that promotes and preserves Scottish heritage. 

Limited parking will be available on Braddock Rd., Howard St., Minnie Howard School, 3801 West Braddock Rd. and St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School, 4401 West Braddock Rd. The map features the City's best on-street and off-road bikeways as well as locations of grouped bicycle parking. Bicyclists are encouraged to dismount when they enter the park, and use the limited bicycle parking available at Fort Ward Park during their visit to the festival.
