Adam K. Thiel, City of Alexandria Fire Chief, is pleased to announce the appointment of both Denise Pouget and Andrew D. Snead to the position of Assistant Fire – EMS Chief with the City of Alexandria Fire Department. An induction ceremony will be held on September 8, 2008 at the Nannie J. Lee Center located at 1108 Jefferson Street, Alexandria, Virginia. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
Assistant Chief Pouget holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Service Management from American Public University and is actively working on her Masters degree in Emergency Disaster Management. Chief Pouget is a twenty-seven year veteran of the Montgomery County (MD) Fire and Rescue Service. She held the position of Department Safety Officer and was awarded the 2007 International Association of Fire Chiefs “Safety Officer of the Year Award.” She is a Level II Maryland State-Certified Instructor and actively teaches courses for the University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI). She currently maintains her National Registry Emergency Rescue Technician- Paramedic (NREMT-P) status.
Assistant Chief Snead holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban Studies and Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. In 2007, he completed the Executive Fire Officer Program through the National Fire Academy. He is a twenty-seven year veteran of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. He has served as the Deputy Chief of Support Services, Deputy Chief of the EMS division, Battalion Chief of Human Resource and Safety Sections. Chief Snead served as President of the Fairfax County Chapter of the International Association of Black Professional Firefighters, Inc.
Assistant Chief Pouget started with the Alexandria Fire Department on August 11, 2008. Assistant Chief Snead started September 2, 2008.
