City of Alexandria Holds Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday, September 11
Pause—Remember—Reflect

The City of Alexandria invites the public to join City officials, employees, and residents to pause, remember, and reflect on the tragic events of September 11, 2001 in a ceremony on Thursday, September 11. This year’s ceremony, which begins at 1 p.m. in Market Square, 301 King St., will honor those who bravely responded during the crisis, and celebrate the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Mayor William D. Euille, Fire Chief Adam Thiel, Police Chief David Baker, and Sheriff Dana Lawhorne will make brief remarks. Staff from the Police, Fire, and Sheriff’s departments will participate in a special ceremony, “Return to Quarters,” and will present a wreath in remembrance of those who perished.
