Alexandria Police Investigate Crash

Alexandria police are investigating a crash that resulted in a bus crashing into the first floor of an apartment building.  The accident occurred at approximately 6:00 P.M. in the 5000 block of Duke Street.

Initial investigation indicates the driver of the bus had parked the bus and unloaded all passengers after experiencing mechanical difficulties.   The driver was attempting to repair the bus when it began to roll east bound on Duke Street.   The bus crossed all lanes of traffic before crashing into the first floor of the apartment building.  There were no injuries.

The west bound lanes of Duke Street were closed for approximately three hours while officers worked with the Fire Department to remove the bus from the building.
