[Archived] Alexandria Fire Department Responds to Apartment Fire at 5352 Knole Court

Alexandria Fire and EMS units responded to an apartment fire, Monday, August 11, 2008, at approximately 10:43 p.m. The apartment building is located in the West End section of the City at 5352 Knole Court.

Upon arrival firefighters encountered fire and smoke from unit-A of the building. The fire originated in the kitchen area and was quickly extinguished. The cause of the fire was determined to be a malfunctioning gas stove. Fire from the stove extended to nearby wood cabinets, which spread quickly throughout the apartment.

Occupants of Unit- A evacuated the apartment prior to Fire Department arrival. No injuries were reported. The apartment was condemned. Occupants were relocated to a hotel by management.

Fire investigators consider the fire to be accidental. Damage is estimated to be $150,000.00.
