[Archived] Alexandria Fire Department Hosts Pee Wee Academy

The Alexandria Fire Department in conjunction with Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Activities, will host the Pee Wee Academy, Monday August 4, through Friday August 8, 2008, 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Pee Wee academy is held each year to teach children between the age of 5 and 9 to identify general fire safety behaviors; recognize common household hazards and learn key components of a home escape plan.

This year the Academy will be taught by the newly formed Community Services Unit. The Unit delivers Fire and Life Safety education programs in the community and was created by Fire Chief Adam K. Thiel  to reinforce the Fire Department’s commitment to community engagement.
