Alexandria Police Investigate Fatal Crash

Alexandria police are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of the driver of a motor scooter.  The accident occurred at approximately 1:15 P.M. on Saturday, July 26, at the intersection of West Braddock Road and North Van Dorn Street.

Initial investigation indicates that the 16 year-old Fairfax resident was riding with a passenger on the motor scooter on West Braddock Road when there was a collision with a vehicle going south on North Van Dorn Street.  The driver and passenger of the vehicle were transported with non life-threatening injuries to a local hospital by ambulance.  The driver and passenger of the motor scooter were transported by air to a local hospital.  The passenger received non life-threatening injuries.  The driver of the motor scooter was pronounced dead on Sunday, July 27. 

Members of the Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the case.

This is the second traffic fatality in the City this year.  There were four traffic fatalities during 2007.
