Alexandria Police Make Arrest in Shooting

This evening, Alexandria detectives arrested an Alexandria man for the shooting and malicious wounding of a man on Saturday, July 12 in the 100 block of South Royal Street.  Robert Boyd, Jr., 18, of 307 Oronoco Street, was charged with Malicious Wounding and Attempted Robbery. 

On Saturday, July 12, around 1:30 A.M., police were called to the 100 block of South Royal Street for the report of a shooting.  Officers arrived on the scene and located the victim.  The victim suffered from a gunshot wound to the arm.  He was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries and was released later that night.  There were no further injuries.

Note: A photo of suspect is not being released at this time as detectives still need to interview additional witnesses.  The investigation is ongoing.
