FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 7, 2008
Responding to School Census Will Help Reduce Costs
All Alexandria residents can help reduce the City's educational costs by participating in the triennial Alexandria School Census by Wednesday, June 11. Responses are needed from every household so that Alexandria will receive its fair share of State sales tax revenue. To respond, participants will need a unique eight-digit identification code which can be found on the postcard that was mailed to every Alexandria household on June 2. Residents with children can respond online at www.educensus.com/alexandria. Residents without Internet access and residents with no children can respond by phone at 703.229.8096. All information provided will be confidential.
Every three years, Virginia requires each school division to conduct a census to count every child age 19 and under. This includes any child in public school, private school, home school, trade school, boarding school, a correctional facility, a hospital, a college (in or out of state), or who lives at home but is not in school.
For more information, please contact the Alexandria City Public Schools Department of Monitoring and Evaluation at 703.824.6638.
