[Archived] PARROTHEAD PARADISE Cruise to Benefit Children in Foster Care

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:   May 30, 2008

“PARROTHEAD PARADISE” Cruise to Benefit Children in Foster Care

The public is invited to join in a Parrothead Paradise: The 5th Annual Fostering the Future Cruise on June 25.  The evening of tropical music, food and drink, hosted by the Advisory Council of The Fund for Alexandria’s Child at the Department of Human Services and sponsored by the Washington Area Parrot Head Club, benefits Alexandria’s most vulnerable children – those who are in foster care or who are at risk of abuse and neglect.

The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with a cocktail reception at the dock at Cameron and Union Streets behind the Torpedo Factory Art Center. At 7:30 p.m. it’s all aboard the Cherry Blossom, for dinner, dancing to the beat of the Nautical Wheelers Band, and cruising on the Potomac until 9:30 p.m.  Tickets are $65 per person (for adults only, please) and the cost is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.

Mango Mike’s Restaurant will serve cheeseburgers in paradise and a buffet of Key West cuisine. Margaritas, sodas, beer and wine are included. Whole Foods Market Old Town will provide desserts, including key lime mini-tarts. Attire is casual; flip flops are optional.

The Cruise Sponsors are FBR Capital Markets and GEICO.  Other major supporters are: Potomac Riverboat Company; R & B Heating and Air Conditioning; Sue and Marty Goodhart; William D. Euille & Associates; Bonomo Family Foundation; Costello Construction; Dominion Dental Services; Gerry and Debbie File; Rob and Callie MacKenzie; Bittersweet Café and Catering; Sunrise-Sunset, LLC; T.
