School Bus Accident

At approximately 7:40 a.m today  units from Alexandria Fire and EMS Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving three passenger vehicles and a City of Alexandria school bus. A passenger vehicle traveling South on S.Washington Street collided with one passenger vehicle, side swiped a second vehicle than veered into a stopped school bus.

Fifty seven children were on board the school bus at the time of the accident, two complained of minor injuries and were evaluated by Fire and EMS personnel. Two adult patients and one child was transported to area hospitals with minor injuries.

Children on the school bus were transferred to a waiting school bus and taken to Lyles Crouch Elementary School. South Washington Street, between Franklin and S. Alfred Street was closed for a couple of hours to allow for clean up and investigation.
