[Archived] House Fire 319 South Alfred Street

Alexandria Fire and EMS units responded to a Townhouse/Condominium fire, Saturday, May 9, 2008, at approximately 9:57 p.m. The townhouse is located in the Old Town section of the City, 319 S Alfred Street.

Firefighters encountered fire and smoke from the front of the two-story townhouse/condominium upon arrival. The fire originated in the kitchen area and was quickly extinguished. A water pipe in the kitchen’s ceiling burst during suppression activities causing water damage to the townhouse and the condominium below.

One person was transported to Alexandria INOVA Hospital with smoke inhalation. The American Red Cross relocated three residents from the townhouse.
Fire investigators consider the fire to be accidental. Damage to both units is estimated to be $100,000.00.
