Alexandria Police Adopt Charles Hill Park

Alexandria Police officers have “adopted” a City park.

Members of the Alexandria Police Department’s Special Operations Team (SOT) are participating in the Alexandria “Adopt-a-Park” program. The program, sponsored by the City’s Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, allows volunteer groups to “adopt” a City park as a part of a statewide litter control program. Groups are responsible for picking up litter and debris from the park and their efforts receive monthly evaluations.

The Special Operations Team has adopted the Charles Hill Park, located at the corner of Oxford and Dewitt Avenues, in the Del Ray area of Alexandria.  The park is named after Corporal Charles W. Hill, a member of the Special Operations Team, who was killed in the line of duty on March 22, 1989.
