UPDATE:Suspect Arrested

 

Alexandria detectives charged Shane Scruggs, 41, of no fixed address, with Attempted Robbery in connection with the robbery of a Sun Trust Bank on April 9. He is being held at the Alexandria Detention Center.

 

AlexandriaPolice Investigate Attempted Robbery at Sun Trust Bank

 

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating a robbery that occurred today at the Sun Trust Bank at 1650 King Street in Alexandria. There were no injuries.

 

At approximately 9:20 A.M., one suspect entered the bank and approached the teller. He passed the teller a note announcing the robbery, but fled before the teller could comply.  The suspect left from the bank on foot without obtaining any money.

 

The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 40 years-old, 5’9”-5’11”, wearing a dark blue hooded jacket, knee-length jean shorts, and a bright red ball cap.
