City of Alexandria Celebrates Public Service Recognition Week

The City of Alexandria will identify, recognize, and honor the important contributions of public employees during Public Service Recognition Week, May 5 – 11. City employees provide many valuable services to residents, including road maintenance, emergency assistance, youth education, historical preservation, health care, public safety, and refuse collection. These examples are just a few of the ways that government employees touch residents’ lives and improve the quality of life in the City’s communities.

On Wednesday, April 30, the City of Alexandria will host an Employee Public Service Awards program to recognize all employees who have achieved milestones in their careers with the City. Mayor William D. Euille, along with members of City Council and City Manager James K. Hartmann, will acknowledge all 2007 retirees and all employees who have achieved five-year increments of service with the City. The honorees include Gladys H. Davis, who has achieved 60 years of service, and Lillian Meadows, who achieved 50 years of service.

“I am proud of the exemplary service our employees provide to the residents of Alexandria,” stated Mayor William D. Euille. “On behalf of the community, I want to personally extend my appreciation to them for their dedicated service as we celebrate Public Service Recognition Week.”
