Alexandria Health Department Announces Changes to Child Health and Immunization Clinics

On Thursday, May 1, the Alexandria Health Department will be making some major changes to its child health program and immunization clinics. All pediatric services serving children at the Health Department’s Casey Clinic will be moved to the main offices of the Alexandria Health Department at 4480 King St. Services for eligible sick children will be provided on a walk-in basis for those who arrive before 9 a.m., Monday through Friday. No appointment is necessary to use these services. All well-child exams will be provided by appointment only for infants and children (ages 0 to 5), who are uninsured or eligible for Medicaid.

Children and adults in need of immunizations can take advantage of expanded hours at the Alexandria Health Department’s immunization clinics. The walk-in clinic hours are on Monday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. The immunization clinic administers free, routine immunizations that are normally required for children who enter day care or school (infants through children up to age 19); routine adult vaccines are also available, although fees may be associated with some of the vaccines. The location for all immunization services is the Alexandria Health Department, 4480 King St.
