Community Meeting Announced on Old Town Motorcoach Management, King Street Trolley, and Water Taxi Services
Feedback Sought on Wednesday, April 23
As this spring has brought its seasonal increase in tourist activity and new transportation services to Old Town, the City of Alexandria invites residents and businesses to an informal feedback session to discuss motorcoach management, the new King Street Trolley, and the new water taxi service. The session will take place on Wednesday, April 23, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at City Hall, 301 King Street, in Room 2000.
City staff and representatives from the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association will provide a “progress report” on activities related to these transportation services and initiatives; residents and business representatives will be asked to provide feedback (particularly on the trolley and water taxi services, because they are new). In addition, the City has made a number of interim changes in the way it manages motorcoaches and wants to hear from residents and businesses if these changes have been helpful.
While the April 23 discussion will focus on issues that the City can address this spring, a Motorcoach Task Force will be created this month to address long-term issues and to make recommendations to City Council for consideration. There will also be future opportunities for the public to provide input to this Task Force.
