City of Alexandria Cosponsors Performance of “The Great Zucchini”
For Children Ages 2 to 6
Proceeds Benefit Planned Soft Playroom at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center

The City of Alexandria invites the public to attend a benefit performance of The Great Zucchini, recently rated as one of Washington's top children's entertainers, on Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m. at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St. The Great Zucchini’s 40-minute show exemplifies “the wonder of magic and silliness of comedy that keeps children on the edge of their seats.” Proceeds from the performance will help raise funds for a planned soft playroom in Alexandria. Tickets are on sale now at http://softplayroom.express.ts.com.

The soft playroom will be located in the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center Club Room 4. The proposed design for the 800-square-foot room is in progress and will feature soft play structures that can be arranged in a variety of configurations for activities suitable for children of different ages. The City’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities will offer classes and other programs designed around the soft playroom. When completed, there will be a nominal admission fee charged to use the soft playroom and related activities.

The Soft Playroom Volunteer Parents’ Group, and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities are cosponsoring these fundraising events. For more information, e-mail Elizabeth Jones at softplayroom@gmail.com. To make a monetary contribution, visit www.supportthesoftplayroom.com.
