City of Alexandria Hosts Eco-City Café

The City of Alexandria, the Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, the Environmental Policy Commission, and Virginia Tech University’s Department of Urban Affairs and Planning hosted the City’s first Eco-City Café this past Saturday morning at George Washington Middle School. The Eco-City Café was designed to be a collaborative discussion among various community stakeholders who participated in roundtable discussions develop recommendations about various environmental issues facing the City of Alexandria.

More than 120 participants provided input and feedback that will be used to develop an Eco-City Charter and Environmental Action Plan.  The Eco-City Charter and Environmental Action Plan will be released at the Eco-City Summit, scheduled for Saturday, May 10. The public will have an opportunity to provide additional input on them before they are considered for adoption by City Council later this year.
