Volunteers Needed for Litter Control Program
The City of Alexandria invites the public to attend an open house to recruit volunteer groups for the Adopt-a-Park Litter Control Program on Tuesday, March 18, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson St.
Adopt-a-Park is a cooperative venture between the State of Virginia and the City of Alexandria. Volunteer groups enter into an agreement with the City to pick up litter in City parks from April through November. Each month, parks in the program undergo inspection and points are given based on how well the park is maintained as a litter-free environment. At the end of the program year, the points are redeemed as a cash award to the participating volunteer organizations. The Adopt-a-Park Program receives funding through the City of Alexandria and a State Litter Prevention Grant.
If you would like to volunteer, but are unable to attend the open house, contact Judy Lo, Adopt-a-Park Coordinator, at 703.838.5095, ext. 438, or judy.lo@alexandriava.gov
