Winter Weather Advisory in Effect Through Sunday Morning

The City of Alexandria is under a winter weather advisory from 3 p.m. today until 11 a.m. on Sunday morning. Precipitation is expected to begin as a mixture of snow and sleet this afternoon. The precipitation will change to sleet and freezing rain during the evening hours. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing overnight and sleet and freezing rain will likely change over to rain. Wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour are possible on Sunday, which could result in downed trees and power lines where ice accumulates.
