City to Sponsor Screenings Of
“God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of the Lost Boys of Sudan”

Two screenings of Christopher Quinn’s film, “God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of the Lost Boys of Sudan,” are scheduled for Sunday, October 21, at 3 and 6 p.m. at the Dr. Oswald Durant Memorial Center, 1605 Cameron St. In addition, short films by young filmmakers, entitled "Alexandria: My Hometown," will be presented prior to each screening. The Durant Center is a short walk from the King Street Metro Station, and free parking is available at the Durant Center. Reservations are not required, and the event is free to the public.

Christopher Quinn, who grew up in Alexandria and graduated from T.C. Williams High School, garnered top honors for this film at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. The film was originally scheduled to air as part of Alexandria’s International Film Festival, but was not presented due to technical difficulties. The International Film Festival is a project of the Alexandria Commission for the Arts in partnership with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities.
