Join the City of Alexandria for the Walk to Fight Breast Cancer

Lace up your tennis shoes, put your walking team together, raise pledges, and get ready to participate in the 14th Annual Walk to Fight Breast Cancer! The 2007 Walk, presented by American Society of Clinical Oncology and Women Mean Business, will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 8:00 a.m. The Walk will be held at Cameron Run Regional Park, but all participants should park at AMC Hoffman Center Theatres, where free DASH shuttle service will be provided to the Walk route.

Julie Carey of NBC4 will be the Master of Ceremonies for the 2007 Walk to Fight Breast Cancer and she will be joined by Honorary Chairs Vola Lawson, former City Manager and Founder of the Walk, and State Senator Patsy Ticer.

Walkers can choose from a 1.5K/3.5K/5K walk or run, and the Walk route is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Well-mannered dogs are also welcome! Registration costs $25 for adults and $10 for children, if pre-registered by October 17. On-site registration at AMC Hoffman Center Theatres is $35, so register early to save!

All proceeds from the Walk support the Alexandria Breast Cancer Walk Fund for Early Detection and Education at Inova Alexandria Hospital. The Fund has collected more than $1 million and provided mammograms and other early detection services to nearly 4,000 under-insured Alexandria residents since its inception in 1994. All information, including registration materials and online registration payment, are available at www.alexcancerwalk.com or by calling 703.838.5030.
