Alexandria Hosts Disability Mentoring Day for Local Students

The City of Alexandria will recognize Disability Employment Awareness Month with a mentoring day for students with disabilities on Wednesday, October 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Disability Mentoring Day is a national program that promotes career exploration and development for students with disabilities through job shadowing.

Students with disabilities from T.C. Williams High School and Saint Coletta School will be assigned to work with volunteer mentors from various City departments, based upon their career interests. The event provides students with an opportunity to see a variety of career choices available to them in local government.

This initiative assists students with disabilities to evaluate personal goals, target career skills, and gain valuable first hand knowledge about possible career paths in the public sector. For more information, please contact Mike Hatfield at 703.519.3357.

The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the City’s Human Rights Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act. To request a reasonable accommodation or to request materials in an alternative format, please call Mike Hatfield at 703.519.3357 (TTY Virginia Relay 711) or e-mail mike.hatfield@alexandriava.gov.
