Acclaimed Chefs to Give Cooking Demonstrations
At Alexandria Farmers’ Market

Beginning this month, a series of acclaimed chefs will give cooking demonstrations every Saturday morning at the Alexandria Farmers’ Market, located at Market Square, 301 King Street. Local chefs will show you how to prepare a variety of culinary delights and samples will be available for tasting following each demonstration. The cooking demonstrations are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. each Saturday morning from September 22 through November 3.

Executive Chef Matilda Chebat of Layla's Lebanese Restaurant, September 29
Executive Chef Adrian Gutierrez of 100 King Restaurant, October 6
Executive Chef Anthony Chittum of Vermilion Restaurant, October 13
Executive Chef Tracy O'Grady and Executive Pastry Chef Kate Jansen of Willow Restaurant, October 20
Executive Chef and Owner Morou of Farrah Olivia Restaurant, October 27
Executive Chef Gordon Forester of Union Street Public House, November 3

The cooking demonstration schedule is subject to change. Please call Jack Browand, Division Chief, with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities at 703.838.4343 to confirm the demonstration schedule.

The City of Alexandria, the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association, and Share Our Strength are sponsoring the cooking demonstrations.

The Old Town Alexandria Farmers’ Market is open year-round at Market Square every Saturday from 5 to 10:30 a.m. The Market sells home baked goods, breads and pastries, locally-grown organic produce, country crafts, jewelry, and much more. Established in 1753, Market Square is considered one of the nation’s oldest continually operating farmers’ markets.
