Alexandria Police Investigate Fatal Accident

Alexandria police are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a passenger in a 2004 Chevrolet Astrovan. The accident occurred just after 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 14, in the eastbound lanes of King Street at the intersection with North Dearing Streets.

Initial investigation indicates the victim, Charlene Robinson, a 44-year-old Arlington woman, was riding in the van when it left the roadway and struck a traffic light pole. The victim was pronounced dead at Alexandria Hospital at 3:00 P.M.

Members of the Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating this case. At this time, it appears that speed was a factor.

This is the fourth traffic fatality in the City this year. There was one traffic fatality during 2006.
