City of Alexandria to Host 5th Annual Alexandria Festival of the Arts
A Weekend of Art, Music and Fireworks

The City of Alexandria will host the 5th Annual Alexandria Festival of the Arts on Saturday, September 8 from 10 am to 7 pm, and on Sunday, September 9 from 10 am to 5 pm in Historic Old Town Alexandria, from Washington Street east to the Potomac River. Ranked as one of the top art fairs in the country, the Alexandria Festival of the Arts transforms the historic district into a living art gallery as more than 200 of the nation's most talented artists showcase their work. Admission is free.

On Saturday, September 8, the day's activities culminate with an explosive evening of music and fireworks at Oronoco Bay Park, located at 100 Madison St. Visitors are encouraged to dine in historic Old Town, or bring a picnic supper to enjoy along the banks of the Potomac as they listen to jazz and contemporary popular music performed by the Al Williams Band beginning at 8 pm, followed by a fireworks display at 9 pm.

Visitors to the historic district are encouraged to take Metro's Yellow or Blue lines to the King Street Metro Station in Old Town, take DASH or Metrobus, or park in one of the convenient parking garages or lots. Historic Old Town is served by DASH transit line #AT 3, #AT 4 and #AT 3-4 Loop. For DASH schedule information, call 703.370.DASH (3274) or visit www.dashbus.com. For Metrobus schedule information, call 202.637.7000 or visit www.wmata.com. For a parking map, call the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Association at 703.838.4200 or visit www.funside.com.
