Alexandria Police Investigate Fatal Accident

Alexandria police are investigating a single car accident that resulted in the death of the car’s driver and only occupant. The accident occurred just after 2:00 A.M. on Friday, August 17, on South Van Dorn Street just north of the intersection with South Pickett Street.

Initial investigation indicates the victim, Terry McDonald, a 36 year-old Arlington man, was riding in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer when he left the roadway and struck a light pole. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of the Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating this case. At this time, it appears speed and alcohol were not a factor.

This is the third traffic fatality in the City this year. There was one traffic fatality during 2006.
