City of Alexandria to Begin Demolition of 4121 and 4125 Mount Vernon Avenue

The City of Alexandria's Department of General Services will begin site preparation to demolish the buildings at 4121 and 4125 Mount Vernon Avenue on or about August 20, and demolition is to be completed by September 30.

The City purchased the two parcels, housing a former dry cleaning business and a check cashing facility, in November 2006 using Alexandria's Open Space Fund. The City also acquired the two adjacent parcels at 4109 and 4115 Mount Vernon Avenue with the City's Open Space Fund. City staff will continue to work with citizens and interested parties in the long-term park planning process for these parcels, in conjunction with Four Mile Run Park throughout the upcoming year.

For additional information, call Laura Durham, Open Space Coordinator, with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities at 703-838-5095, extension 350. For demolition related concerns, call Patrice McAuliffe, Urban Planner, with the Department of General Services at 703-838-4770, extension 250.
