Alexandria Police Arrest Homicide Suspect

This morning, Alexandria police detectives, with the assistance of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force of the US Marshals Service, arrested a man for the murder of Ricardo Lloyd Cherry. Gerald Dwayne Curtis, 42, of no fixed address, is charged with First Degree Murder.

Curtis is charged with the killing of Ricardo Cherry, a 29 year-old Alexandria man, who was found suffering from a stab wound to the chest at 930 North Henry Street around 8:30 P.M. on July 19. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

A motive for the murder remains under investigation.

Detectives are encouraging anyone who may have been in the area of the 900 block of North Henry Street in the evening hours of July 19, to call 703.838.4711.
