Alexandria International Film Festival Call For Entries Extended to July 31 The Alexandria Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities, together with the Alexandria Commission for the Arts, announced today that the call for entries for the Alexandria International Film Festival would be extended to July 31, 2007. The First Annual Alexandria International Film Festival will be held September 27-30, 2007 at the Patent and Trademark Office's Madison Building located at 600 Dulany St. Festival coordinators expect to not only bring a new, cutting edge, first class event to the City, but will also promote cross-cultural exchanges among the City’s richly diverse population. The festival will also feature a youth program component providing a programmatic contrast with an “Alexandria: My Hometown” student competition. All junior filmmakers, 18 and younger, are invited to enter. The City of Alexandria Public Schools will organize students from the Mount Vernon Community and the Samuel W. Tucker Elementary Schools to produce films for the competition. Winning films will be shown as part of the Festival. Films produced in all languages are eligible for entry, and non-English speaking films will be subtitled. To obtain a submission form, visit www.alexandriacommissionforthearts.org. For additional information, call Patti North-Rudin, International Festival Coordinator at 703-838-5095, extension 307 or by email at Patti.North-rudin@alexandriava.gov. ### |
