City of Alexandria to Test New Outdoor Warning System

On Friday, June 29th, the City of Alexandria will conduct brief tests of a new outdoor warning system. The tests will begin at 9am and conclude by 11am. Testing will consist of a series of tones, followed by verbal information.

The tests are part of a pilot program on behalf of the National Capital Region, and will determine if the outdoor warning system technology can add to the region’s overall emergency communications system.

The tests will be performed at the following Alexandria locations:

Oronoco Bay Park, 701 North Lee Street
Ben Brenman Park, 4800 Brenman Park Drive

For more information contact Mark Penn, Emergency Management Coordinator, at 703-706-3940, ext. 283.
