Alexandria police are investigating a single-vehicle traffic crash involving a Fairfax County Police vehicle. At 11:20 A.M. on Friday, June 22, a marked Fairfax County Police cruiser, while en route to a call, struck a light pole located on private property in the 3400 block of North Beauregard Street.

The lone officer in the vehicle was transported to an area hospital by helicopter with non life-threatening injuries. The officer, who is a 4-year veteran, was driving northbound on N. Beauregard St., approaching the intersection with Route 7 (King Street). Preliminary investigation indicates that the officer did have his emergency warning equipment (lights & siren) activated.

Members of the Patrol Division are investigating this case. No charges have been filed, pending the outcome of the investigation. For further information on the condition of the officer, contact the Fairfax County Police Public Information Office at 703-246-2253.
