City of Alexandria and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project
Schedules Public Informational Session on Noise Walls

The public is invited to attend an informational session on the noise wall barriers planned by the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project. The meeting will take place on Monday, June 25, at 7:00 p.m. at Lyles Crouch Elementary School auditorium, 530 South Saint Asaph Street.

During the session, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project Team will give a presentation showing the location of the noise walls, and the Federal Highway Administration and Virginia Department of Transportation criteria used in determining the locations and configuration of the walls. The purpose of the walls is to reduce traffic noise from the Beltway and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in the adjacent neighborhoods.

Dr. William Bowlby, an acoustical consultant hired by the City of Alexandria to provide peer review of the original design of the noise walls, will present his findings and recommendations, which were incorporated into the final design of the walls. After the presentations, the meeting will be opened to the public for questions and answers.

The City of Alexandria is committed to compliance with the City’s Human Rights Code and the Americans with Disabilities Act. For additional information regarding the meeting and to request a reasonable accommodation or to request materials in an alternative format, please contact Glen Bates, Civil Engineer, Alexandria Department of Transportation and Environmental Services, at (703) 838-3400, ext. 188.
