City of Alexandria Schedules Community Meeting
On Proposed Athletic Fields and Site Features at Witter Property

The public is invited to attend a community meeting to discuss athletic fields and other site features proposed for the Witter property. The meeting will take place on Thursday, June 14, at 7 p.m. in the Bishop Ireton High School’s cafeteria, located at 201 Cambridge Road. The property, a 13.7-acre site, is located west of Telegraph Road between Duke Street and the railroad and Metrorail rights-of-way.

Acquisition of the Witter property and project development by the City is being implemented with federal funds received in conjunction with the Woodrow Wilson Bridge project. The Witter property project’s sports consultant and design engineer, A. Morton Thomas Associates, Inc., will provide an in-depth design presentation based on comments received from concept discussions in November 2006 and March 2007 and from the Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission’s public hearing on April 30, 2007.
