AmericanStyle Magazine Ranks Alexandria in Top 25 for Arts Destinations

Readers of AmericanStyle magazine have voted the City of Alexandria as a 2007 Top 25 Arts Destination for Mid-Sized Cities –cities with populations of 100,000 to 499,999. Results from the readers’ poll and the cities that were selected appear in the magazine’s June issue. Alexandria ranked 20th place.

The magazine’s ballot allowed readers to vote for the third year in a row for their favorite arts destinations based on city size: Big Cities (cities with populations of 500,000 or greater), Mid-Sized Cities (cities with populations of 100,000 to 499,999), and Small Cities and Towns (cities with populations under 100,000). The categories allow big cities with major arts institutions and high concentrations of artists to be measured against each other, and smaller cities and towns to match their cultural assets against contenders of the same size.

First published in 1995, AmericanStyle is considered the national arts lifestyle magazine for enthusiasts, collectors, and travelers. The bi-monthly arts lifestyle magazine features articles on contemporary artists, galleries, arts travel, and art events.

Now in its 10th year, AmericanStyle’s annual readers’ poll has become the nation’s premier resource for cultural tourists.

This is the third year that readers have voted Alexandria as a Top 25 Arts Destination for Mid-Sized Cities.
