City of Alexandria Postpones Demonstration
of Region’s Pilot Outdoor Warning System

Due to delays in the installation of equipment, the City of Alexandria is postponing its demonstration of the region’s pilot outdoor warning system. Alexandria and Arlington County were scheduled to conduct a demonstration of the system on Friday, May 18. Arlington County will proceed with its demonstration while Alexandria will hold one at a later date.

The pilot program is designed to test if the outdoor warning system technology can add to the region’s emergency communications “system of systems.” The demonstration is part of a pilot program on behalf of the National Capital Region. The test was scheduled to be performed at the following locations in Alexandria:

  • Oronoco Bay Park
  • Ben Brenman Park
  • Fort Ward Park

For more information, call Mark Penn, Alexandria’s Emergency Management Coordinator, at 703-706-3940.
