Alexandria Police Investigate Missing Person Case

Alexandria police are asking for the public’s help to locate a woman who was reported missing last month. Lucy M. Harris was last seen on Thursday, March 22, in the West End of Alexandria.

Harris lives with family members in an apartment in the 5400 block of North Morgan Street. She was home around 8 p.m. and said she was going to the laundry room but she did not return. Her family contacted police just after 11 p.m. to report her missing. They told police that Harris was homeless for many years in New York City and that if she could get the money, she might try to return there.

Lucy M. Harris is described as a 73-year-old black female, 5-feet tall, 180 pounds, with salt-and-pepper hair and no teeth. She was last seen wearing a lightweight dark jacket, black velour pants and a light blue knit cap. She is on medication for blood pressure and depression but did not take her medication with her. She has only lived in Alexandria since last fall and is not familiar with areas beyond her immediate neighborhood.

Anyone who has seen Harris is asked to call Alexandria detectives at 703.838.4711.
