Alexandria Police Seek Identity of Armed Robber

Alexandria police are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a man who robbed the Cardinal Bank at 1737 King Street earlier this week. Detectives are releasing video of the robbery.

On April 4, around 11:05 a.m., the suspect entered the bank and approached a teller. The suspect, armed with a gun, demanded money and the victim complied. The suspect then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a black male with a medium complexion and a mustache. He is in his mid to late 30’s, about 5’8” tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket and dark jeans and carrying a messenger-style bag.

Detectives believe that the same suspect is responsible for a robbery at this bank on January 8.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Detective Chris Whelan at 703.838.4711.

Note: Security video showing the suspect entering the front door of the bank and removing money from an ATM while two tellers lie on the floor appears below.
