Alexandria Pedestrian Dies Following Crash Last Week

An Alexandria woman has died of injuries she suffered after she was hit by a car Friday night. Jessica V. Aromin, 69, was struck by a car on March 9, around 7:20 p.m., as she crossed the 100 block of South Van Dorn Street. The driver remained on the scene and called 911. Medics transported the victim by ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital. She was being treated there for multiple injuries before her death at 12:10 p.m. today.

Police believe the victim was crossing South Van Dorn Street from west to east when she was hit by a 1992 Dodge Stealth traveling north. Initial investigation indicates that the victim was not in a crosswalk. The driver, a 30-year-old Alexandria man, was not injured.

Neither speed nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed pending the outcome of the investigation.

This is the second traffic fatality in Alexandria this year.
