City of Alexandria’s Chinquapin Park Recreation Center Schedules
Open House for Saturday, March 31, from Noon to 4 p.m.


The City of Alexandria’s Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. The recreation center is located at 3210 King St. Admission is free and activities will include:


free swimming in the Dr. Robert S. Rixse Memorial Pool

screening tests to determine swimming ability

late registration for spring and summer classes and camps

use of equipment in the fitness room

face painting

two door-prize drawings for a monthly admission pass to the recreation center

“Our family looks forward to going to the Chinquapin Park Recreation Center’s open house each year,” says Alexandria resident Marjorie Smith. “It’s a free family day out that is filled with lots of fun.”


The recreation center’s staff will be available to answer questions about the facility and programs. Children, age 12 and younger, must be accompanied by an adult. Children, age 13 and older, must bring a school identification card. No one under 16 years of age is permitted in the fitness room.


In addition to the two door-prize drawings, there will be a “special” business card drawing held for a one month pass to the Chinquapin Center. All participants in the door-prize drawings must be present to win.
