Forum Participants Discuss Needs of Virginia’s Aging Community

The City of Alexandria’s Office of Aging and Adult Services will join Julie Christopher, Commissioner of the Virginia Department for the Aging, the Arlington County Area on Aging, and the Fairfax County Area on Aging for the “Community Conversation on Aging.” The event will take place on Wednesday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lincolnia Senior Center, located at 4710 N. Chambliss St. in Alexandria (Fairfax County). Seniors and other members of the public are invited to attend and share their ideas and thoughts on the needs of Virginia’s aging community.

Admission is free and registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Other event participants include the Honorable Robert H. Brink, Delegate, Virginia’s 48th District; Richard B. Chobot, Ph.D., Executive Director, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, George Mason University; and Robert Werth, President, Diamond Transportation.

The “Community Conversation on Aging” is part of the statewide-information exchange initiative of the Virginia Department for the Aging. The initiative provides opportunities for local business, education, and legislative leaders to address the needs of today’s aging population by sharing information and soliciting feedback from the public. The Department for the Aging will use the information gathered as part of its overall plan to identify, fund, coordinate, and deliver future services and programs for the aging in Virginia.
