City of Alexandria Hosts Carshare Alexandria!
at Market Square on Thursday, March 8
Residents, Commuters, and Business Representatives Learn Benefits of Carsharing

The City of Alexandria’s Office of Transit Services and Programs will host Carshare Alexandria! between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at Market Square, 301 King St.

The event will give residents, commuters, and business representatives the opportunity to learn about carsharing from staff for Flexcar, Zipcar, and the City of Alexandria, see carshare vehicles, and take advantage of special offers.

Carsharing promotes more efficient use of the transportation network by allowing individuals to live a “carfree” or “carlite” lifestyle. Members choose options such as public transportation and bicycling more often and have access to a carshare vehicle when needed.

Flexcar and Zipcar provide carsharing in the City and throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area. Carsharing offers several benefits to members and the community:

� Residents often decrease the number of personal vehicles they own.

� Commuters who choose a non-drive-alone option to get to work can use a carshare vehicle for personal errands during the workday.

� Businesses can use carshare services instead of maintaining a vehicle fleet.
