Public Hearing on Services for People with Disabilities

The Alexandria Commission on Persons with Disabilities and the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services are co-hosting a public forum on Wednesday, March 14, to hear from local residents about ways to update and strengthen the annual state plan for the Vocational Rehabilitation and Supported Employment Programs operated by the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services.

The plan describes how employment and rehabilitation services are being provided. The public’s input will be used to develop priorities and shape the plan for 2008.

The hearing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in Room 2000, City Hall, 301 King Street, Alexandria, VA, 22314.

The current state plan can be reviewed by visiting the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services’ Web site at
www.vadrs.org/stateplan.htm.

Written feedback on the current state plan should be e-mailed by March 15 to Elizabeth Smith at
Elizabeth.Smith@drs.virginia.gov.

For further information on the public forum, or to request reasonable ADA accommodations, call Elizabeth Smith at 1-800-552-5019, TTY 804-662-9040. Sign language services will be provided.
