Wednesday Impound Lot Auction Cancelled

The City of Alexandria’s Impound Lot Vehicle Auction scheduled for Wednesday, February 21, has been postponed indefinitely due to icy conditions at the lot.

The auction will be rescheduled at the earliest possible date.

The Impound Facility is located at 5249 Eisenhower Avenue. Hours of Operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. The Facility is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

The Impound Facility processes approximately 3,000 vehicles impounded by the City every year. Vehicles not claimed by the owners may be either auctioned by the City or disposed of through a junk car program that is administered by the State of Virginia.

Auctions are held approximately once a month and are advertised in the Alexandria Gazette Packet two weeks prior to the auction date. All interested parties except employees of the City of Alexandria are welcome to bid on auctioned vehicles.

There is a $100 entrance fee to enter the auction. This fee may be applied to the purchase price of a vehicle purchased during the auction, or it will be refunded at the end of the auction.

Proceeds of auction sales go first to pay the costs of towing, storage and the auction. The balance goes to the City of Alexandria treasury.

For more information, call the Vehicle Impounding Office at 703-838-4664 or email james.rodney@alexandriava.gov.
