Alexandria Police Arrest Dumfries Man for Murder of Woman Found in Dumpster

Last night, Alexandria detectives charged Frederick Simon Ajlan, a 26-year-old Dumfries man, with First Degree Murder for killing Anna Sherman. The victim, a 21-year-old Annandale woman, was found Saturday morning dead in a dumpster in the 5300 block of Holmes Run Parkway.

Ajlan was formally charged late Monday night after being interviewed by detectives. Detectives believe that Ajlan and Sherman were involved in a personal relationship and a specific motive for the murder remains under investigation.

An autopsy performed yesterday found that Sherman died of blunt force trauma. Initial investigation indicates that Ajlan killed Sherman at his home late Friday night or early Saturday morning and then put her body in the dumpster.

Ajlan, a resident of 16107 Edgewood Drive in Dumfries, is being held without bond at the Alexandria Detention Center.

Investigation is continuing and anyone with information about this case is encouraged to call Alexandria detectives at 703.838.4711.
