CITY OF ALEXANDRIA ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF SERVICES
FOR FEBRUARY 19 GEORGE WASHINGTON DAY HOLIDAY


The City of Alexandria will celebrate its most famous resident’s 275th Birthday with America’s largest Washington’s Birthday Parade on Monday, February 19, at 1:00 p.m. in Old Town Alexandria.


In observance of the Virginia legal holiday George Washington Day, also known as Presidents’ Day, all City of Alexandria government offices will be closed on Monday, February 19.


Schools:
All Alexandria City Public Schools will hold half-day sessions on Monday, February 19. T.C. Williams High School, Minnie Howard School and George Washington and Francis C. Hammond Middle Schools will dismiss students at 12:00 noon. Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy will dismiss at 11:00 a.m. Douglas MacArthur Elementary School will dismiss at 11:25 a.m. All other elementary schools will dismiss at 11:15 a.m. For additional schools information, call the ACPS Public Information Line at 703-824-6635.

Recreation Centers:
The Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19. The Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Mt. Vernon, William Ramsay, Charles Barrett, Patrick Henry, and Nannie J. Lee recreation centers will operate from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All part-time recreation centers will be closed.

Libraries:
All City of Alexandria Libraries will be closed on Feb. 19.

Transit:
Alexandria Transit Company DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, Feb. 19.

Refuse Collection:
Residential trash and recycling will not be collected on Monday, Feb. 19. Scheduled collections will be delayed by one day during the week of Feb. 19-23.

Parking:
The Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Monday, Feb. 19, for the George Washington Day holiday. HOV restrictions on Washington Street and U. S. Route 1 will be suspended on Feb. 19.

State Offices:
All Commonwealth of Virginia offices located in Alexandria will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19. This includes the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the DMV Office at 2681 Mill Road.

Health Facilities:
The Alexandria Health Department, one of 35 district offices operated by the Virginia Department of Health’s Division of Community Services, and the Flora Krause Casey Health Center at 1200 N. Howard St. will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19.

The Adolescent Health Center at 3701 W. Braddock Road will be closed on Monday, Feb. 19.

All emergency hotlines operated by the Alexandria Office on Women operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including the domestic violence hotline, 703-838-4911, and the sexual assault hotline, 703-683-7273.
