POSTAL SERVICE NARROWS SEARCH FOR NEW OLD TOWN LOCATION
Public Encouraged to Submit Comments by February 22

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has narrowed the search for a new Old Town Post Office location to two sites, according to a notice sent to Alexandria Mayor William D. Euille by the USPS Eastern Facilities Service Office.

The two finalist sites are at 277 South Washington Street and 200 North Washington Street.

277 South Washington St. – The Atrium Building is located at the northwest corner of the intersection with Duke Street. Entry to the proposed post office location would likely be from the Duke Street frontage, which is also numbered as 777 Duke Street.

200 North Washington St. – Located at the northwest corner of the intersection with Cameron Street, this retail space formerly housed an Office Depot.

The Postal Service welcomes written comments from the public on the proposed locations. Comments should be received no later than February 22, 2007 and should be addressed to:

Vice President, Facilities
Att: Dennis J. Perry
United States Postal Service
Eastern Facilities Service Office
P.O. Box 27497
Greensboro, NC 27498-1103

Photos of the two proposed locations can be viewed on the City’s website at www.alexandriava.gov.

The current Old Town Post Office location at 126 South Washington Street is expected to remain open until the new location becomes active.
