ALEXANDRIA FIRE DEPARTMENT SCHEDULES SECOND COMMUNITY MEETING ON WINDSOR AVENUE FIRE STATION RENOVATION PLANS FEBRUARY 7 The Alexandria Fire Department has scheduled a second community meeting to give residents the opportunity to view architectural plans for the renovation and modernization of the interior of Alexandria’s Windsor Avenue Fire Station 202. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Avenue. The renovation project will update building utilities and reconfigure the living quarters for firefighters and paramedics who staff Station 202, located at 213 East Windsor Avenue in the City’s Del Ray neighborhood. The historic building was originally built in 1926 as the Town Hall for the Town of Potomac and became part of the City of Alexandria following annexation in 1930. The project, designed by Larson-Koenig Associates architects, will include installation of central air conditioning, updated plumbing, and an upgrade of electrical service to accommodate the demands of a modern workplace. Public areas will also be brought into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Larson-Koenig representatives will be available to discuss project features and answer any questions. The Mount Vernon Recreation Center is a 20-minute walk from the Braddock Road Metrorail Station and can be reached via DASH Transit route AT10. For DASH schedule information, call 703-370-DASH or visit www.dashbus.com. The February 7 community meeting will be the final meeting planned for the purpose of reviewing architectural plans. A previous meeting was held on January 22.
